In New Hampshire, individuals and companies who wish to install and maintain low voltage systems, including access control, fire alarms, video surveillance, security systems, and structured cabling, must obtain a low voltage contractor license from the New Hampshire Board of Electricians (NHBE).

To obtain a low voltage contractor license, individuals must first meet the following requirements:

• Have a minimum of four years of experience in the low voltage field
• Pass a trade examination
• Provide proof of liability insurance

Companies must also meet the following requirements:

• Have a minimum of one employee who holds a valid low voltage contractor license
• Provide proof of liability insurance

Individuals and companies can find the necessary application forms and study materials on the NHBE website. The trade examination can be taken at a testing center designated by the NHBE.
